Fleet operators were tied to dedicated tracker hardware — purchase, licensing, installation and maintenance on every truck, plus a separate app for drivers to manage their actual work. Two systems, two costs, and a hardware dependency that broke the moment a unit failed in the field.

Live telemetry is expensive, and fleet load swings hard by hour and season. Rather than sizing servers for the peak, we moved the utility layer to fully serverless functions that scale at the per-invocation level — no upgrade or downgrade cycle, and cost that tracks actual movement.
Tracking that survives the app being killed.
Background fetch had to be reliable and self-reviving. Every driver signs a consent document, and a native handoff service reinstates tracking after each app kill whenever an assignment is in progress. Built natively via exit strategies, then bridged into React Native.
Track the driver, not the assignment.
Instead of opening a tracking stream per job, the platform tracks the driver continuously and, on completion, distils a clean breadcrumb path as that assignment's delivery record — then compacts the raw route. One stream, accurate history, and storage costs kept near flat as the fleet grows.
